Fewer than 1,100 glassmakers remain on the island of Murano — a number that shrinks every year as historic furnaces close and old-world techniques go unpassed. In a market where the vast majority of "Murano glass" sold today is actually mass-produced overseas, we sought out one of the artisans still doing it the true way.

The Venetian Knot takes its twisted silhouette from the mooring ropes that line Venice's canals, hand-blown and shaped by a single glassmaker, its rigadin ribbing catching light differently with every angle. No two are quite alike — the slight variation from piece to piece is the signature of a hand, not a mold.

Short: 45 cm (17.7")

Available in Moka, a warm smoked amber, and Champagne, a pale golden hue. Style the 45cm alone on a console, or pair it with its 55cm counterpart for a dining table that deserves the extra height.
